My Process
Project 01
Brief. Design exciting packaging for a new product launch; a yoyo for girls, incorporating
summer 2026 trends. Target, Girls aged 5- 12 years for fun and entertainment.
Process. I started off with a Business analysis from store to store, then looked at the brands own packaging and style. I found their current packaging and saw it prioritized simplicity and ability to touch product while neatly displayed on a peg, mainly using pink and grey. I looked at their competitor instores as well for comparison.
I then did online research of 2026 spring summer trends and found key colours and prints for kids- came up with the artwork design on adobe illustrator.
I then researched and designed the best packaging for a you-you. along with dieline, sketched up a rough structure, printed to ensure when sent to suppliers the measurement were accurate, i made adjustments thereafter and then rendered the final design with artwork and without.
Trends & Inspiration. Summer 2026 trends are bold and soothing jelly mint, electric fuchsia, transformative
teal, amber haze. Artwork includes playful doodles and retro shapes inspired by a yoyo
string as well its swift motion when playing and stars for glow reference.
Design Choices. Pink and grey for brand cohesion and modified with playful artwork incorporating
relevant trends. To shout out prominent features I added a star badge with feature icons
and statements on the front and back of the box bringing attention to the most exciting
elements. Lastly a stylized purple yoyo on the front with a cut out window showcasing.
Problem Solving. Easy to follow instructions to teach user, basic product features highlighted. Design looks
cohesive with Cosmic Fashion branding, updated with exciting and unique artwork for a
premium feel. Box can hang from display peg.
